The objectives of the Economic Development and Housing Division are to develop a viable urban community by:
Providing decent and affordable housing, primarily for low- and moderate-income families, in a quality living environment
Expanding economic opportunities by upgrading and revitalizing the historic downtown business district
Serving the special needs of the community's low- and moderate-income residents
The Economic Development and Housing Division leverages federal, local, and private resources to acquire, construct, and rehabilitate housing units as well as help individuals attain affordable housing.
The mission of the Economic Development and Housing Division is to provide administration for the division, including the housing development, acquisition and rehabilitation programs, and the Community Development Block Grant Program.
